Bali Travel Guide for Entrepreneurs looking for work + play
A few months ago, in November of 2017, we went to Bali on a work trip for almost 3 weeks. This post has been long over do! To say that Bali was magical, is an understatement.
From the people, to the food, to the culture. We are in love with Bali in every way. If you have seen the movie with Julia Roberts, Eat Love Pray, then YES Bali is just as beautiful as they make it seem in that movie. And if you’ve never seen it, DO IT! It is SO good. Oldie but goodie.
Bali is known for its incredible shopping, food and attractions. Bali business owners KILL it in the social media game and they understand the power of legendary branding. Don’t just take my word for it though, check out the Instagram profile of some of the places featured below. Trust me when I say, Bali business owners are really crushing the social media game. All of the restaurants, cafes, villas, and hotels that we stayed and ate at made sure they were Insta-ready at all times. We pretty much loved it! It was so refreshing to be in place where I felt excited to walk into all the different restaurants, cafes and hotels, not only to stuff my face every two hours (Not guilty at all) but because the branding was too beautiful not to see what the place was all about.
And Bali does not disappoint in any of those areas.
A client of ours was hosting her first international retreat in Bali, Indonesia with 15 incredible woman. If you didn’t know, we own a full service Marketing and Media agency for creative entrepreneurs. Which includes retreat and live event planning. We help our clients bring their biggest and baddest dreams to life. This Bali retreat was no exception.
The TVS team found the perfect Villa for our client and her guest, locked down all of the details including some incredible excursions, food menu, itinerary and pretty much anything that had to do with making sure our client and her guest had everything they needed to have an incredible trip. Chris was also in charge of all the videography and photography to create a highlight film for our client and her guest plus we also had some fun taking brand pictures for some of the boss babes in attendance. You can check it out below!
When the team wasn’t working, we were checking out everything Bali had to offer and catching up on our work back home. So that meant strong wifi, and a strong almond vanilla latte to match, that was a non negotiable wherever we went.
Bali is literally an entrepreneur’s paradise. They make it SO easy to work + play. The locals also LOVE anyone with a camera and a laptop. We had the owners of restaurants go out of their way to make sure our meals are prepared perfectly for insta-worthy snaps and if we needed a chair to get that perfect camera angle, you better believe it wasn't even a question.
We were treated like royalty and we did not mind one bit! It was amazing and made cafe hopping in Bali that much more fun.
So if you want the perfect place to work + play, Bali is IT!
We can not wait to take our team back there. Below you will find a list of our favorite restaurants, hotels, cafes, and experiences that we personally did while we were in Bali that makes it the go to country on our list for work + play!
Literally, BEST tacos of all time. The food is so fresh and yummy here. We ate here quite often and we also ordered to go from here a lot for the guest at the retreat. Sea Circus was a big hit for all of us. The restaurant itself is small but colorful and full of the sweetest staff. I had the yummiest Kombucha at the bar every time I waited for our to go order to be ready. If you are in Seminyak, this has to be on your lunch list for SURE. Also make sure to check out all of the surrounding shops. They are AMAZING!
EVERYTHING about this restaurant is literally perfection. From the branding on their packaging to the way they presented their food. Bali restaurants are known for their impeccable branding and their social media expertise but Sisterfields takes that to a whole new level. Everything from their menu, their straws, and don’t even get me started on the to-go bags. SO perfect! My favorite menu item from here was the Charcoal Breakfast Sandwich… literally died and went to food heaven. It was a party in my mouth, every single morning!
Earth Cafe Bali
For all my Vegan entrepreneurs out there, Earth Cafe will literally make you never want to leave Bali again. I am not Vegan at all but I can appreciate a yummy salad or good non dairy pizza, that still had a crispy crust… oh my gahhh. They turn the Vegan food game upside down. I tried a lot of things from their menu, since they were one of the restaurant we frequently ordered from, and I was blown away everytime. Their combination of flavors and texture is delish. They also have refrigerators FULL of Vegan, raw desserts. H E A V E N. We ate WAY too many, but their Vegan right, so its makes it a bit better. They also have a market section where you can pick up your favorite health foods, snacks, and cruelty free products.
DAVA Steak & Seafood at the Ayana Resort
DAVA Steak & Seafood is a restaurant within the Ayana Resort in Bali. We stayed in their Villa Suites the last few nights we were in Bali, and it was perfection. I am going to talk more about Ayana in the Hotels portion but for now I want to highlight 1 of their many delicious restaurants on the property. It was raining the evening we had reservations here and we were greeted by staff with umbrellas to bring us into the restaurant. It was located on a cliff on the property and to get to the actual restaurant, you had to walk this GORGEOUS dimly lit path. It was crazy romantic and the live band they had playing during our dinner was the perfect touch. We had a delicious Tuna Tartar to get started, a cobb salad, and lobster bisque soup. Then we moved into the dinner portion. Chris and I both ordered the wagyu beef and just thinking about it now, brings me to tears quite literally. Quite dramatic I know, BUT this was the best steak I have EVER had in my life. Could be cut with a butter knife and if you love a good steak, the wagyu at DAVA will not disappoint. Actually NONE of the restaurants at Ayana, disappointed us. We could make a whole other post just about their restaurants and cafes. If you are in Bali, definitely make a stop here. They only take reservations so make sure you book it ahead of time.
Hands down our favorite place we stayed at during our Bali Trip. Between all of the incredible restaurants, our private pool & our private butler, whats not to love!? We stayed in a two bedroom Villa suite on the Ayana property and I did NOT want to leave. Like… ever. The staff was so accommodating and our butler was literally there in 10 seconds flat whenever we needed anything. They gave us a cell phone that we could use to reach him for any needs. He was beyond amazing and we were so sad when we had to leave this gorgeous place. Next time we go to Bali, you can find us here! They get a 10 on E V E R Y T H I N G. Not one bad thing to say about this place. You also have to check out Rock Bar. It is a cliffside bar on the property that has to be experienced in person. The sunset views from there, gorgeous. It was the last hotel we stayed at on our trip and we spent 2 nights here. Not even nearly enough time to check everything out!
This is the villa where our client hosted her Bali retreat in. It came fully equipped with a house staff and chef. The house staff was amazing and everytime you turned around, your stuff was organized and ready to go! The whole staff was super accommodating and waking up to a beautiful Balinese breakfast every morning was amazing. They helped us plan all of our excursions and made sure our retreat guest were well taken care of at all times. They felt like family to us by the time we left and we will definitely be visiting our sweet Katut (The amazing house manager), when we head back to Bali. This house was high vibe AF. I did the most insane photo shoot in our outdoor bathtub too! We had so much fun here. Check it out for yourself!
Although we only stayed here one night, Lovina Life is a sweet little gem in Bali. It is a boutique hotel and only has around 20 rooms total which was fine by us. We wanted to wind down and relax and Lovina Life allowed us to do that. We were greeted with a yummy, fresh pressed watermelon juice and shown to our rooms. They have a cafe in the lobby of the restaurant that serves breakfast and light bites. If you are looking for a sweet, quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle of Bali, you will love it here! Great place to bang out some work and enjoy the beautiful beach.
KYND Community Bali
Best vanilla almond milk latte on the island. Hands down. AND I tried a lot of them. They also have the best smoothie bowls, avocado toast, and pressed juices that I have ever had. We loved everything we had at KYND and if you want to bump elbows with the Insta-socialites of Bali, you will find them taking photos and sipping smoothies at KYND. I will let the pictures speak for themselves with this favorite of ours.
Bo & Bun
BEST Pho evaaaa! We came here after I was fighting a nasty case of Bali Belly, which I will save you the details of. Bo & Bun came through with the most delicious bowl of hot pho and yummy spring rolls. I also had their vanilla almond milk latte. Good but not a winner. Their Pad Thai was ALSO delicious.
Our favorite experiences happened while we were on excursions with our client’s retreat. We went to the Uluwatu Temple, which was breathtaking, we went to the Monkey Forest, and to this insane waterfall deep in the jungle with the trek to match, Nungnung Waterfall. Instead of discussing each topic separately, below is the highlight video Chris made for our client’s retreat that includes all of these amazing locations.
Bali is at the TOP of my list for entrepreneurs to work + play. There ease of transporation, the low cost of everything, the delicious food and every Instaworthy location we went to, makes Bali one of our favorite trips ever.
